Dr. Claudine Backes is Scientific Director of the National Cancer Registry of Luxembourg at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), where she heads the Cancer Epidemiology & Prevention Group (EPICAN). She is President of GRELL, an international network of cancer registries and scientists from over 30 countries, and a Steering Committee Member of the European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR). She leads the sustainability work package of the European CancerWatch Joint Action and sits on Luxembourg's Observatoire council. Her work turns real-world data and health-data linkage into evidence for cancer control and policy, and supports implementing the European Health Data Space (EHDS) in Luxembourg and the EU.
