Merja Mattila is Senior Coordinator for Trustworthy AI at the LUMI AI Factory, CSC – IT Center for Science, Finland. She coordinates the AI Factory's work to ensure that both its operations and its users' AI development meet requirements for trustworthiness, compliance and sustainability. She works with EU and national authorities on guidance, codes of practice and AI regulatory sandboxes, and advises startups, SMEs, industry, academia and public administrations. She also serves in a personal capacity on the European Commission's Scientific Panel of Independent Experts in the field of AI.
