Bert Verdonck

With a distinguished academic background, he holds a PhD in medical image processing from ENST Paris and a Master of Science in electrotechnical engineering from KU Leuven. Prior to his appointment at LNDS, he spent over two decades at Philips, where he held various leadership roles in healthcare informatics, contributing to the development of data and AI strategies, clinical informatics, and health data sharing platforms. At LNDS, he champions ethical data reuse, embedding data protection by design and fostering cross-border collaboration through frameworks like Gaia-X. He also contributes to European data policy as a board member of Gaia-X and ELIXIR, and advisor to the Data
